A ball valve is a fitting used to control the flow of liquids or gases in a pipeline. A ball valve consists of a cavity that is closed or opened by a rotating ball.
The ball has a hole in the centre that allows a continuous connection between both sides of the valve when it is open. When the valve is closed, the ball is rotated so that the hole in the ball no longer matches the openings in the connections of the valve and the flow is interrupted.
Ball valves are widely used due to their simple design and reliability and are used in many different applications, such as the chemical industry, oil and gas, construction and water treatment.
